She is a ‘Kursaal Bern child’. A life without it? Hardly conceivable for her. Having grown up next door, she completed her school work placement here and took her first steps on her career path: 25 years ago, Michelle Karius began her career with us, progressing from receptionist to senior accountant.
After several years as a receptionist and shift leader, a colleague sparked her interest in numbers. After completing a basic course in bookkeeping, she moved into accounts receivable. Later, she undertook further training and took on accounts payable as well. With her knowledge and experience within the organisation, she now ensures that everything runs smoothly in the accounts department. The fact that she knows the organisation and its processes so well is a major advantage.
But her connection to the Kursaal Bern goes beyond the professional. It also plays a major role in her personal life. This is where she met her husband. He came to work at her reception desk as an intern from hotel management college. It goes without saying that the couple celebrated their wedding at the Kursaal Bern.
“For me, the Kursaal Bern is almost like a second home, a family. There are lots of professionals here with different talents who, as a team, achieve great things together.”
She values this team spirit. It is one of the reasons why she has remained loyal to the company for a quarter of a century. She knows from her time as an active tap dancer that teamwork is the key to success. As a member of the Swiss National Tap Team, she even became world tap dancing champion. There, as at the Kursaal Bern, the same principle applies: a choreography only works if everyone performs in perfect harmony. It is precisely this feeling that she has experienced at the Kursaal Bern – for 25 years.
