Jogging routesin Bern

In the middle of the city and yet quickly surrounded by greenery. It only takes a few minutes to reach the Aare from the Kursaal Bern - a perfect starting point for an athletic break.

Bern offers ideal conditions for jogging

So put on your running shoes and let's go. In the early morning, when sometimes the fog still lies over the Aare, the paths are empty and quiet, later in the day more people enjoy the wonderful surroundings. Depending on your taste, there are various routes to choose from. In addition to endurance, strength and agility, jogging also promotes mental fitness and creativity. In any case, jogging along the Aare is always a wonderful break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Run and be happy:

We take the stairs from the Kursaal Bern down to the Aare and cross the Altenbergsteg. From there, we simply jog away from the city along the riverbank path, past the Botanical Garden, grazing cows, goats and the Lorrainebad up to the dam. We cross the dam and run back on the other side. When we pass the Blutturm, we are almost done. It is not far to the Altenbergsteg.

Keep running

Here too, we start at the Altenbergsteg heading away from the city along the riverbank path, past the botanical garden, grazing cows and the Lorrainebad to the dam. We cross the dam and run back on the other side. We pass the Blutturm, run past the Altenbergsteg, the adventure playground "Längmuur", the clubhouse of the Aare Club Matte Bern and continue straight ahead to the Läuferplatz. There we can take a look at the Läuferbrunnen from the 16th century and cross the Aare on the Untertorbrücke. Directly on the left, we first walk along the Altenbergweg until we reach a footpath that leads directly along the banks of the Aare back to the Altenbergsteg.

Never stop running

Once again we start at the Altenbergsteg, heading away from the city past the Botanical Garden and the Lorrainebad to the dam. We cross the Aare there and run towards the city: across the Läuferplatz, through the Matte quarter, past the Dalmazibrücke bridge, past the Marzilibad with a view of the Bundeshaus and past the Gaskessel to the Schönausteg.

On the Schönausteg we cross the Aare again and run back past the Schwellenmätteli through the forest along the river to the Bärengraben. We run between the Aare and the water basin for the bears and up the stairs. From there we run under the Nydegg bridge along the path until we reach the Kösterlistutz. From there we go back to the Aare, along the Altenbergweg through the neighborhood to a footpath that leads directly along the Aare back to the Altenbergsteg.
