We are a founding member of the city of Bern’s “Climate Platform”, which has advocated for a significant reduction in CO2 emissions since 2006.
Our commitment to sustainability is a core aspect of our entrepreneurial position, which in turn shapes our energy, waste disposal and investment policies. Environmental management is a key component of our management system.
We carried out a comprehensive energy consumption analysis in 2016. Following this, we defined and implemented numerous measures that have allowed us to cut our consumption by 598,500 kWh per year.
We want to be clear, transparent and quantifiable. That is why we work together with and are audited by MyClimate, United Against Waste, and Accor’s Planet 21 programme in order to achieve our goal of a sustainable, CO2-neutral Kursaal Bern.
What does that mean for us?
We are reducing our water consumption, energy consumption and our waste quantities, We are also cutting down further on food waste, and we want to offer CO2-neutral conferences and overnight stays at our hotel with “Cause We Care”. At the moment, we are certified at “Level II – engaged” by Swisstainable. Furthermore, we have reached gold status as part of Accor’s Planet 21 programme.
Our goal is clear: a sustainable, CO2-neutral Kursaal Bern!
