The evening was very relaxed, informative and thoroughly enjoyable. We sat at two large tables together with other wine lovers and sampled the wines, enjoyed the food and chatted. It was an interesting and very informal evening. Winemaker Gianfranco Elampini stood between the tables and told us about his wines.
Just like at a classic wine tasting, he told us about the wine we had in our glasses. He also provided a lot of background information that I didn't expect and found rather fascinating. It was very interesting to get to know the person behind the wine and to feel the passion for his work.
My highlight was certainly the comparison between two Amarone wines. Gianfranco Elampini had directly bottled the new Amarone from 2023 from one of his casks the morning before his trip and brought it with him on the train to Switzerland. We were able to sample the young wine and compare it to the mature Amarone from 2017. You could clearly taste the difference between the levels of maturity. But that wasn't the only highlight: for me, the dessert wine was also very special. It had a very pleasant sweetness for a dessert wine.
It's hard to say; the whole evening was a culinary tour de force. Everything was beautifully prepared, absolutely delicious and always paired with the wine. With each course, the kitchen team came over to present the idea behind the dish. The dessert was also particularly memorable for me.
Definitely! My companion and I had a pleasant and sociable evening with the winemaker and the other people at the table. I really enjoyed the interesting conversations in a relaxed atmosphere with the wonderful wine and delicious food.
