Nazareth
They belong to the first generation of hard & heavy bands and, together with bands such as Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep and Black Sabbath, played a key role in shaping the style of hard rock after their formation in 1968. With over 60 million records sold, they are Scotland's most successful rock band of all time (alongside Simple Minds).
In other words: NAZARETH are among the greats of their genre!

The new Nazareth singer is Gianni Pontillo.
The Swiss musician is taking over the position of frontman for Nazareth. In future, Pontillo will take on the role of lead singer at all concerts as well as in the new studio projects.
Gianni Pontillo is regarded as an experienced and versatile rock vocalist. In recent years, he has made a name for himself primarily as the frontman of the German hard rock band "Victory", with whom he toured internationally and realised several studio and live productions. Pontillo was also active in various other projects and worked with musicians from the international rock business, which earned him a reputation as a stylistically confident singer with a powerful voice. These include "Fun Halen" as a Van Halen tribute band, together with Eluveitie guitarist Jonas Wolf, among others. Gianni has sung with bands such as "Pure Inc.", "Souls Revival" and "The Order". In 2023, he founded his own project "Pontillo & The Vintage Crew".
bassist and founding member Pete Agnew emphasises that anyone who has seen Gianni Pontillo live knows about his "incredible voice". Those who don't know him yet will be delighted when the band takes to the stage with the Swiss singer in 2026. "I appreciate his musical experience and his vocal range. Our fans can look forward to hearing how Gianni interprets the classic Nazareth sound while adding his own touches," continues Pete Agnew.
When the rock legend rolls into European cities again to rock classics such as "This Flight Tonight", "Expect No Mercy", "Hair Of The Dog", "Dream On" or "Love Hurts" on their Still Rockin' Hard tour, visitors will not only be transported back to the good old days of the wild 70s, but will also experience a band up close that is still bursting with enthusiasm after 58 years and is ideally equipped for the future. Nazareth is one of the few bands from the early days of hard rock that have managed to hold their own in the hard music business and retain their originality to this day. With the new tour motto "Still rocking hard", they are clearly setting the direction: fans can look forward to a show with all the hits and crunchy power rock at its best!
The forefathers of rock will also be on the road with some new songs from their current 25th studio album "Surviving The Law" on their eagerly awaited 2026 European tour. Rock fans around the world appreciated the aggressive stage show and the musicians' airs and graces-free, proper demeanour. You can look forward to this again in spring 2026 in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Nazareth is undoubtedly the most important rock band from Scotland. From 1971 to the present day, Nazareth has recorded 25 studio albums and released several live records. The band has received various platinum, gold and silver awards all over the world. Their mega-hit "Love Hurts", which still sets the standard for a rock ballad, reached the top 10 in almost all charts worldwide, reached number 1 in six countries and stayed in the Norwegian charts alone for 60 weeks.
Conventional, cleanly played hard rock with melodious, plaintive vocals have been Nazareth's trademark for 58 years now! The band from near Edinburgh was founded by Dan McCafferty (vocals), Manny Carlton (guitar), Pete Agnew (bass) and Darrel Sweet (drums). The hard core of the band stayed together for over 20 years. During these two decades, Nazareth proved themselves to be a solid and well-rehearsed live formation that scored a dozen top hits and five best-selling albums. Million-selling hits such as "Love Hurts", "This Flight Tonight" and "Dream On" became milestones in rock music and the band became one of the most influential hard rock formations of the 70s and 80s. Later legends such as Guns N' Roses and Metallica counted Nazareth among their most important influences. When Richie Blackmore was looking for a successor to Ian Gillan in Deep Purple in 1973, he first asked the Nazareth frontman about a joint appearance and was flatly turned down.
The current line-up consists of:
Jimmy Murrison (the longest-serving Nazareth guitarist in the band's history),
Lee Agnew (drummer since Darrell Sweet's death in 1999),
Pete Agnew (bass and founding member, original as long as he can remember)
Gianni Pontillo (vocals from January 2026)
