Sustainable action

We are taking part in myclimate “Cause We Care”, an initiative for climate protection and sustainable tourism in Switzerland. It brings together companies from the tourism industry, associations and private individuals who are actively committed to climate protection.

Sustainable action

With myclimate “Cause We Care”, we offer events and overnight stays that also contribute to a climate protection project. For us, this is the logical consequence of our activities: we actively combat food waste, have doubled the number of charging stations for electric cars and offer plastic-free hotel rooms. Wherever possible, we use LED bulbs, motion sensors and timers to consume as little energy as possible.

We do our utmost to avoid and reduce our own emissions. But we're also convinced that voluntary financial support for climate protection remains an important component of achieving global climate protection goals.

How it works

Here's how it works:

Guests and customers make a small voluntary contribution to sustainability and climate protection (1% of the net invoice amount and CHF 2.00 per person per night).
We double this and put all the money into our own myclimate “Cause We Care” sustainability fund.
The fund is used to support local and global sustainability and climate protection measures to offset the unavoidable emissions we are currently causing.

Our in-house sustainability projects

We are planning to install new cooling units. This should enable us to reduce our CO2 consumption by around 50 tonnes per year. We are using the energy as efficiently as possible without sacrificing guest comfort. The new cooling machines have many advantages: we can use their waste heat for heating at the same time. And when they are not cooling, we use them as heat pumps. In addition, we are installing new heat storage tanks that will enable us to store unused heat better and for longer.

Clean drinking water for schools and households in Uganda.

New technologies for poorer households and schools to purify drinking water – we support this project. Clean water is a very valuable resource and helps on many levels:

  • People, including many children, no longer suffer water-borne diarrhoea.
  • Children stay healthier and can go to school regularly.
  • Additionally, children no longer have to spend hours collecting firewood, so can use their time more meaningfully.
  • The installed water filters save charcoal and firewood that used to be needed to boil the water.
